Grey Heron

The Grey Heron over the years has developed a pretty
bad name for itself. Disliked by so many.
In real terms, its quite a survivor, superb hunter
and pretty majestic too.......

These birds were photographed at Potteric Carr earlier
this year.

Sedge Warbler

Always difficulty to get a clear shot of these very "busy" birds. There's nearly always a reed in the way!

Gadwall & Obscured Bittern....

Gadwall on the local lake. Much easier to photograph than
the Bittern below.

Bittern at Potteric Carr. Its very true these birds are
difficult to photograph. I have tried unsuccessfully many
times! Manage this shot recentley, all be it a little obscured.
I will keep trying!

Stoat & Lunch.......

This rabbit is about to become lunch for a stoat.

Whilst strolling through the wood the rabbit ran past me with
the stoat in hot persuit.
After walking back about 400 yrds I caught up with the stoat
with its kill.

Even though the Stoat knew I was there taking these pictures
it was'nt prepared to give up its kill.
The stoat quietly dragged the dead animal into a hole.
Quite an experience! One that will probably never happen again.

Kingfisher

The "master hunter".....& he's damn good looking as well.......

Monday 15 June 2009

Spoony....

Been trying to photograph Spoonbill for quite a longtime now.
Finally got the opportunity this week, all be it from a distance.
Not the best images I've ever taken, but there better than none at all!

Patricularly like the one below. Some type of "backflip" !!

Grey heron also came on the scene, but both species were
more than happy to share the water......
